Description

The Mugga hook pattern is one of the most popular and effective hooks available for carp and specimen anglers, thanks to its unique design that provides exceptional hooking potential. The hook’s sweeping, slightly curved shank and a 25° in-turned eye work together to cause the hook to flip as soon as the hooklink tightens or the hook eye reaches the edge of the fish’s lip. This creates an aggressive hooking action, ensuring the hook takes hold firmly in the corner of the mouth or in the bottom lip without needing shrink tube or other modifications.

The specific orientation between the hook eye and the super-sharp straight point is key to ensuring the hook penetrates quickly and securely, providing excellent hook holds and reducing the likelihood of hook pulls. Constructed with high carbon wire, the Mugga hook is lightweight yet strong, offering incredible reliability and durability. The larger sizes in the range have become particularly popular for anglers creating 360° rigs in venues where longshank curved hooks are prohibited. Additionally, sizes 11 and 12 are now commonly used for Zig Rig fishing, as they help reduce hook pulls, a common issue in this method.
