Sleeping Bags & Covers FAQ
What’s the difference between a 3-season and 5-season sleeping bag?
A 3-season bag is ideal for spring, summer, and autumn, offering a balance of warmth and packability. A 5-season bag is built for extreme cold, with thicker insulation and draught protection for harsh winter sessions. Choose based on when you fish — cold-weather anglers benefit from the extra warmth of a 5-season model.
Are sleeping bag covers worth using in winter?
Yes — sleeping bag covers add a valuable extra layer of insulation, trapping warmth and reducing heat loss. They also protect your bag from condensation, damp clothing, and bankside moisture. In winter, a thermal cover can significantly boost comfort and help maintain consistent warmth through the night.
What features should I look for in a good sleeping bag cover?
Look for waterproof or water-resistant outer materials, thermal lining, secure bedchair attachment points, and breathable fabrics to reduce condensation. Covers with multiple fastening points or elasticated hems stay firmly in place. A good cover protects your sleeping bag and adds warmth, especially during damp or windy nights.
